Thank you and enjoy!
💡 This Week’s Gritty Thought
Am I chasing excellence? Am I being my best daily? How do I know?
Time is limited. Stagnation is death. Progress is key. How do we ensure we are growing and GOING? Limiting and negative narratives are sneaky devils. We tell ourselves we grow and grind (with GRIT). We get up. Workout. Read a little bit. Work on a project. Cool. So much grind. So much grit.
What keeps us actually accountable? If we are mindful, our external influences can feel our internal influences. If we surround ourselves with high-performing, positive people, ideas, and concepts that nurture our growth/abundance mindset, the sky's the limit. This is where fantastic mentors come in, and fiercely loyal friends- who don’t just support through letting you vent and checking in, but PUSHING you and CHALLENGING you to be your best. Sometimes that’s telling you you’re being a little B and you need to stop whining. That’s true friendship and support.
This is why I am grateful to be connected with the gents and The Collective and Welcome to the Street. Tuning and participating with The Collective show (podcast and YouTube) keeps me VERY sharp. I often recognize that after talking about philosophy, purpose and other high-level topics in a very, very deep manner makes my brain exhausted.. In a good way. These are guys and guests that will very much challenge your limited mindset.. Trust me! Find them on YouTube here
Welcome to the Street is a newsletter run by active LEOs Devonta and Vince. It was created out of the void in pertinent, quality legal training and case law considerations. This and similar resources are imperative for proficient officers to recognize, which starts as simply as a click to subscribe to the free newsletter. https://www.welcometothestreet.com/
🗣 Quote of the Week
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.— Proverbs 27:17
I love the saying “iron sharpens iron.” And full disclosure, I’m not sure if deep down I knew it was biblical, but I wanted to share the full verse. There are many versions in the latter half, which also include a friend sharpening a friend.
We get sucked up in the swirl of long work days, kid tasks and routines, general havoc that we can lose sight of intentional progress. Find people- in your circles and inspirations from outside (podcasts, leaders, historical figures, books) that help you keep YOUR iron SHARP!

☀️Wellness 🍎
Why do we snack? Sure it tastes good. It stimulates our boredom. It curbs our stress responses. And most of us know how intentionally addictive it is.
I nerded out on Michael Easter’s Scarcity Brain concepts when he was making his podcast tour promoting the book. As I consider how I default in and out of poor snacking/mindless eating habits, this was a great revisit.
Check it out- there are plenty of articles and podcasts where it talks in more detail to why we may fall into addictive patterns of all types- and how we may strategize to curb them.
Tips?
For me, when I establish an eating window, I can be much more objective. I am a good rule follower (cool, I know), so when I decide 8 pm is the end of eating daily, I am more likely to just go to bed when I get home, even if it’s midnight and that bag of crackers and/or jar of peanut butter is calling to me. It doesn’t have to be crazy fasting.. Even a 12 hour window can keep you regulated.. And truly when I am active and fast longer I tend to overeat.
Also, injecting habits can help. After a very filling dinner, grabbing a flosser will 9/10 ensure I don’t eat anything else. It’s a guardrail- I don’t want to floss again and I am mentally telling myself that I have decided I’m done. Simple enough- most of the time!
